This original Tri-ang Toys Grand Prix Racer pedal car is dating back from the 1960’s. The green housing is of pressed steel and has still its original paint with a nice patina.
The wire wheels with rubber tires are still original, just like the knock-off wheel spinners and the steering wheel.
Other nice details are the chromed radiator grill, bonnet, air intake and exhaust. The seat is of black painted pressed steel with padded leatherette.
A must have for collectors who prefer authentic to restored pedal cars.
The British range of Tri-ang pressed steel vehicles were produced from the early 1930’s through until the mid-1970’s. Tri-ang was one of the largest toy producers in the world and this was reflected in their range of toys. The total number of pressed steel vehicles consisted of over 200 different types.
Tri-ang Toys was the brand name for the toys that were produced by Lines Bros Ltd, a British toy manufacturer of the 20th century. Tri-ang was founded by 3 brothers: Walter, William and Arthur … Lines. And just as a triangle is made up of 3 lines, the link between the brand Tri-ang and the 3 Lines brothers is quickly made.
